yesterday was the 27th annual combined atheletics meet. the day didnt went that badly although it was known to be black friday. everything went smoothly until my pledge haha. i fumbled a bit, mixing up two short lines. it wasnt that embarrassing then because i had a race to concentrate on and i memorised the pledge instead of reading it from a piece of paper. but after further thought about it, it was really rather embarrassing for me to do such a thing in front of 4 schools. anyway, at least i did not stutter or say the pledge too fast like i always did. so, i guess that i ought to be happy about my performance.
now to the races. our 4x400 b boys got 2nd and i think its my fault. i didnt push hard enough and didnt overtake the ngee ann guy. if i did so, brian would have a lead and the others have to play his game. this made me feel very disturbed or maybe just sad. melvin did very well, doing his best despite being behind and zhanhong pushed despite being totally drained. brian also caught up with the first guy but lost. what did i do? lol. i think its because i havent been running 400m for too long and i seem like i have lost my determination to continue to run. for my 1500m, i didnt give up when i saw the nas runner cutting me and i charged to the end. for my 800m and 4x400m i slowed down and gave up when i saw the person in front of me. i'll just have to hope that things would change for my national junior championships tml. somehow i felt like i have let everyone down. everyone who wished me good luck and everyone who supported us. they wished me good luck and yet i didnt go at my fastest. that's just depressing for me.
on the other hand, the most memorable race ytd was the 20x100 relay. that race showed a lot of determination. every runner did not give up hope and kept chasing the first runners. the best was when the third runner fell down but got up on her feet again almost immediately and continued the race. that is the true spirit of detemination. joel was the hero for the day when he caught up with the duman runner and gave cch the vital lead which was enough for us to win. great stuff from everyone, on overcoming a large lead.
last night was the track dinner. nothing much happened; other than making a mixture of food to eat and going to play pool. it was just a regular track and field get together and to celebrate the end of a tiring three weeks.
congrats to all prize winners on winning.
